As Earth Day 2025 approaches, Milwaukee is once again proving that sustainability isn’t just a buzzword – it’s a way of life. From community cleanups to eco-friendly festivals, the city is buzzing with opportunities to give back to the planet. Whether you’re a long-time environmental advocate or looking to get involved for the first time, Milwaukee's Earth Day events offer something for everyone to make a difference and celebrate our shared environment.

  • Earth Week at the Urban Ecology Center: The Urban Ecology Center is organizing various volunteer opportunities during Earth Week 2025, April 21 – 26. These activities focus on environmental education and conservation efforts, allowing participants to engage hands-on in making Milwaukee a greener city.   • Earth Day Person & Planet Magazine Release Party + Live Art & Community Market: Join MARN Art + Culture Hub for the release of the 6th issue of Person & Planet Magazine by Purevant Living. Visit MARN (Milwaukee Artist Resource Network) at their Historic Third Ward location, 191 N. Broadway, on Monday, April 22 from 5pm to 8pm to celebrate sustainability, wellness, art, and local businesses. The evening includes live art, a sustainable art exhibit and fashion show, a community podcast, and vendors showcasing eco-friendly goods and services. This in-person event is your chance to connect with like-minded individuals and magazine contributors in the community.   • Bublr Bikes & Veolia Unite: On Tuesday, April 22 at 10am at the corner of Plankinton Avenue and Michigan Street, Bublr Bikes, Veolia and community leaders will host a press conference announcing a partnership to better connect communities through an expanded bike share network.   • Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s 30th Annual Spring Cleanup: A cornerstone of Milwaukee’s Earth Day celebrations is the Milwaukee Riverkeeper’s Spring Cleanup. Scheduled for Saturday, April 26, from 9am to 12pm, this event mobilizes thousands of volunteers across more than 90 locations in the Milwaukee River basin. Participants work together to remove trash and debris, contributing to the health and beauty of the city’s waterways. Volunteers are provided gloves, trash bags, and a free T-shirt.   • Rock the Green Earth Day Celebration: Following the cleanup, the 14th Annual Rock the Green Earth Day Celebration takes place on Saturday, April 26 from 12pm to 3pm at the Harley-Davidson Museum. This free, zero waste event features live music on a pedal-powered stage, Earth Day remarks, a raw food demo, and more.   • Green Fest MKE 2025: On Saturday, May 18, from 11am to 4pm, the Tripoli Shrine Center will host Green Fest MKE 2025. The event offers resources and solutions for individuals interested in adopting a more sustainable and healthier lifestyle.   • City of Milwaukee’s Project Clean & Green: From April 19 to June 2, City of Milwaukee collection crews will target one zone each week to help residents remove unwanted furniture, mattresses, household items, and garden/yard debris. Learn more here.
