The mission of Milwaukee Theater District seeks to drive increased awareness of and attendance at Milwaukee's premier arts, live performance, and entertainment venues, which are located in a safe and convenient, walkable district in the heart of downtown Milwaukee.  

Through advocacy and collaborative marketing campaigns, the Milwaukee Theater District will drive visitation, stoke local pride, and enhance the city's reputation as top-tier art and cultural destination.

Shining a Spotlight on our Theaters

With 15,000 theater seats downtown, the Milwaukee Theater District ranks No. 1 in the United States for the highest number of theater seats per capita. With a combined 2,100 annual performances attracting 2 million attendees each year, the Milwaukee Theater District is a core part of Milwaukee's larger entertainment industry, which generates an estimated $400 million in visitor spending annually, according to Tourism Economics. As part of that impact, the Milwaukee Theater District venues proudly employ over 1,000 people and even more volunteers, drawing from all corners of the community and all walks of life.

New Community Ice Skating Events Celebrate Broadway

Marcus Performing Arts Center, Milwaukee Theater District, and Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 host Broadway-themed ice skating events at Red Arrow Park's "Slice of Ice"

Can't stop the beat? The cold never bothered you anyway? Then it's time to gather your entire family and lace up for Broadway Skates, featuring two nights of Broadway-themed ice skating at Red Arrow Park's "Slice of Ice" in the heart of the Milwaukee Theater District.

On Gallery Night, Friday, January 20, from 6 - 8 PM, dress in your favorite '60s attire and skate to the music of HAIRSPRAY, featuring DJ Shawna, and a costume contest for a chance to win tickets to HAIRSPRAY's opening night at Marcus Performing Arts Center. 

Then, on Saturday, February 18, from 11 AM - 2 PM, "let it go" to the music of Disney on Broadway's FROZEN, featuring music from the beloved animated movies and Broadway songs. For more information, visit the Marcus Performing Arts Center
