True Skool's annual "Summer Park Jam" returns after a two-year hiatus with a full day of live music, interactive art, local vendors, and skate and dance contests on Saturday, August 13. Celebrate our community youth and their creative expression from noon to 7 PM at the Marcus Performing Arts Center's Peck Pavilion. The event is designed and programmed by True Skool students.
Summer Park Jam will have multiple stages and a “DANCE Break” tent with dance battles and non-stop DJs. The lineup includes Wave Chapelle, Gego Y Nony + DJ Kenny Perez, Death Is A Business, Eli $tones, and more.
True Skool is a nonprofit that uses Hip Hop culture to empower Milwaukee youth with free after-school and summer programs, like a paid youth leadership and workforce development program. Summer Park Jam is sponsored in part by Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, as part of the organization's support of Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley's "Year of the Youth" initiative. Earlier this summer, True Skool's students participated in a public space audit of three downtown public spaces and provided input to Connec+ing MKE - Downtown Plan 2040.
