Light Lane

Take Art for a Spin

This summer, Downtown Milwaukee visitors are encouraged to take art for a spin. Now through mid-August, a multi-sensory public art installation is bringing pedal-powered projections to the Milwaukee RiverWalk at Chase Tower.

LeMonde Studio's Light Lane, presented in partnership with Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, the Milwaukee Riverwalk District and Chase Tower, features four stationary bikes that emit light and sound when pedaled. The projections include stanzas from an original poem by Dasha Kelly Hamilton called “Light Cycles.”

Light Lane is free and accessible to the public 24/7.

Light Cycles

by Dasha Kelly Hamilton

Particles of light
Shuttle and sway, dancing
in tandem abandon
between us all

Between us all
Fields of energy web together
our constellations
of life and light

Constellations of life and light
Pattern a shared existence
Commune bundles of energy
We glimmer against the dark

Against the dark, we bend
life around corners
Cycle our light across boundaries and planes
Diffusing legacy into atmosphere
